The 3rd ACR

I wish that some of my cynical world-weary colleagues would read this sort of thing. But then they probably wouldn't believe it anyway.
The mayor of Tall Afar in Iraq writes:

"To the Courageous Men and Women of the 3d Armored Cavalry Regiment, who have changed the city of Tall’ Afar from a ghost town, in which terrorists spread death and destruction, to a secure city flourishing with life."

You miss a lot when you're a cynic.
